ABOUT ABOUT

Food Not Bombs DC and Positive Force DC present Garbagefest 6, a kickass mutual aid benefit show featuring punk rock, comedy, and live witchcraft.

Taking place at St. Stephen's, 1525 Newton St NW

Featuring bands the Messthetics, Massie, and Professor Goldstein; and comedian Jenny Cavallero

The Messthetics is an instrumental trio formed by former Fugazi members bassist Joe Lally and drummer Brendan Canty with guitarist Anthony Pirog. Their music has been described as "jazz punk jam." In March 2024, Pirog, Lally and Canty, with acclaimed jazz saxophonist James Brandon Lewis, unveiled their first full-length album as a quartet. The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis features nine tracks that capture their combustive chemistry while expanding the collaboration in all directions.

Massie is a power pop trio (comprised of Emily Yaremchuk, Samantha Collings, and William Salzmann) from the vibrant punk scene of Washington D.C. With their roots firmly planted in the city's iconic punk heritage, Massie brings a girlish twist to the genre, infusing intricate three-part harmonies and melodies with a pop sensibility over their bubble-punk infused instrumentals reminiscent of late 90's and early 2000's alternative rock.

Hey! Aeryn from Professor Goldstein here. I wanna introduce y’all to the band. We’re an 8-piece party rock group from Hyattsville, MD that’s influenced by pop punk, nu metal, indie folk, and Weezer. We come complete with rhythm section, keyboard, horn section, and hype (no figures sold separately).

Jenny Cavallero (she/they) is a disabled writer and comedian in Washington, DC. They are a contributing writer for the disability humor site "The Squeaky Wheel" and have most recently opened for Sabrina Wu and Kristin Key.
